Painting Talk: Is Making Art Selfish?
Many of my students struggle with this question as have I. In this video I share how I’ve learned to think about my own painting practice and its role in my life and in the larger culture. My hope is to encourage and remind all of us that making art is a very valuable pursuit that illuminates, enlightens, examines and nurtures. Can you imagine a world without the arts? The answer to that simple question tells us our work isn’t selfish or indulgent, but rather our way to contribute to creating a more “whole” world.
