100% Kindness, 0% Expectations … Letting Go So Ideas Flow

I believe the process of creating and generating ideas, whether with paint, pen or petri dish, crosses disciplines, and I often encounter writings, podcasts or interviews that reinforce this view. One in particular sticks with me that I talk about in this video. In a National Geographic article, writer Stacy Colino talks about the science of why we have great ideas in the shower or on walks, and essentially it’s because our brain relaxes and lets go so ideas can flow and connect. That’s what we do when we make abstract art, in the Reckless Abandon Phase certainly but in other parts of the process as well. And this loose, flow state stimulates creativity in painting and beyond. Watch the video and let me know how this applies to you … in your art practice or other parts of your life.
