Our Roadmaps
Google maps = security. We type in the “TO” from the “FROM” and immediately know how to get to our destination. (well most of the time!) Wandering has become an intentional pastime, if we have time to do so.
And I wonder, does google maps thwart our creativity?!
In his book Inspired: Understanding Creativity: A Journey Through Art, Science, and the Soul, Matt Richtel confirms that creativity is inherent in all human beings, while varying degrees of creativity live within each one of us.
The thing about creativity is that it’s fueled by change, the unknown, chaos - realities that inherently kindle fear, or not, depending on how we arrange the roadblocks we encounter. According to science, “new ideas scare the heck out of us” but we can embrace the unknown as the roadmap to our next destination.
An intelligent person answers a question. A creative person come up with the questions in the first place, and then answers it. - Matt Richtel
And this leads me to ask the question: What constitutes intelligence?!
The book Ways of Being: The Search for a Planetary Intelligence by James Bridle explores how human intelligence lives within the natural world as opposed to being a separate kind of intelligence. The discussion builds connections between the human brain, artificial intelligence, and the foundational wisdom of nature.
Turns out we can learn from animals, plants and the weather!
I suspect as highly creative people we already know this.
Nature is imagination itself. - James Bridle
