Is Your Painting Working?
As artists, we often face the question “Is my painting working?" And just as often we get feedback on our work, sometimes solicited and sometimes not. I find other peoples' opinions about my art interesting and even useful at times, but I’ve learned that what’s really important is how I feel about the painting. Is what I want it to say coming through? Do I connect with it? Am I emotionally moved by it? In this video I talk about a painting I’ve been struggling with for several months. While ultimately I need to decide if it’s working or not, I’d like to hear what you think of its current state and an alternate version I created in photoshop. How do you know if your painting is working? Was this video was helpful to you?
