Stemming the Tide of Sameness

A slower Sunday morning with the New York Times sparked a desire to share this opinion piece, and my thoughts.
Ross Douthat’s opinion piece Can We Resist the Age of Algorithm? correlates the squashing of creativity in fashion, music, and medicinal research. At the end of each paragraph I kept saying:
”Yes, that’s true in painting too! And I am working tirelessly to foster authenticity. Hmmm… maybe I need to end my daily algorithm checks!”
What we are doing as Whole Artists - owning our authenticity, making compelling work, being the artists who we are - means we can withstand the algorithmic brainwash of sameness. At least I think we can. And with that belief, we will.
